SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi Zanjani answered a question about the payment of Zakat al-Fitr to a corrupt poor person.
Question: Is it allowed to pay Zakat al-Fitr to a corrupt poor person or the one who does not perform Salaat (Tareku Salaat)?
The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi: Righteousness is not the condition for payment of Zakat al-Fitr to a poor person; but if payment of Zakat al-Fitr helps towards his sins, it is not allowed.
