SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi answered a question about payment of Zakat al-Fitr.
Question: On the Day of Eid, I decided to pay Zakat al-Fitr to a poor person in my family. If I know his account number, can I pay (Zakat al-Fitr) into his account without his knowledge or not?
The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi: For paying Zakat al-Fitr to a poor person, it is not necessary for him to be informed.
