SHAFAQNA- Do you know what your tears look like at a microscopic level? Dutch artist Maurice Mikkers does, and he’s been looking at hundreds of them. It seems that our tears can be as unique as snowflakes, and have a similar crystallised look under a microscope. Mikkers was a lab technician before he went to art school, and has yet to find two tears that look alike. He’s also investigating how temperature, humidity, and even the cause of the crying can influence a tear’s structure. “[A] dark field microscope will light up the tear on a black background, so you can actually see the beautiful pattes and shapes,” Mikkers says in the Quartz video above. “I think tears are so unexplored. SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: The one who has good behaviour, God will grant him the position of the one who is fasting and stays up all night (to worship God) [1]. In this regard, Imam Ali (AS) said: The title of the believer’s book (the book of the believer’s deeds on the Day of Judgment) is the good behaviour [2]. It is also narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: Luqman said to his child: My child, if you do not have anything to help your relatives and brother, at least do not lose your good behaviour, because the one who has good behaviour, good people like him and bad people stay away from him [3]. In another narration, Imam Sadeq (AS) said: If you want to choose a friend, no friend is like good behaviour, because all the friends will leave the human being but good behaviour stays with the human being for ever [4]. SHAFAQNA- Since the influence of friend of man is very deep, Islamic teachings have given an important status to the friendship. In Holy Quran it is stated that most of the companions of the Fire will say, in the Hell, that “Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend. He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter.” [1] So it is very important to know how your friend is.  In this regard, there is a very nice hadith in which Imam al-Baqir (PBUH) said: My father Ali Ibn al- Hussein (A), once, advised me: ‘O son, do not associate, talk, or accompany five classes of people.’ ‘Who are they, father?’ asked me, and he (A) answered: ‘Beware of associating with the liar, for he is as same as a mirage: he shows you the near as remote, and shows you the remote as near. SHAFAQNA – Over the weekend, people tweeted an offer to their Muslim neighbors: #IllWalkWithYou. The hashtag spread quickly as Muslims around the country reeled from the news that two Muslim men were fatally shot blocks from their Queens mosque on Saturday afteoon. The murders of Imam Maulama Akonjee, 55, and his assistant Thara Uddin, 64, are under investigation. Although police have not determined a motive in the killings, the Muslim community feels strongly that the men were targeted because of their religion. They fear that the intensifying anti-Muslim rhetoric in the presidential campaign will only lead to more hate crimes. But in a remarkable show of solidarity, thousands of people around the country pushed back against such bigotry and vowed to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Muslims in their own communities. SHAFAQNA – Al Jazeera owned online news portal AJ+ aired a documentary explaining differences of belief between Shia and our Sunni brothers. It states that Shia believe Islamic Caliphate should only belong to Family of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) while Sunnis don’t. Shia believe that Islamic caliphate is a Divine position and not a family influenced choice or political in any way. It depicts an absolute different view of the original belief and makes it a documented fact which is not expected from a responsible news network like Al Jazeera. SHAFAQNA- The Lebanese national delegation to the Rio Olympics prevented Israeli team from sharing a bus on the way to the opening ceremony on Friday.Israeli media quoted the sailing coach of the Israeli team Udi Gal as saying that when the Lebanese delegation realized that it was slated to share the bus with Israeli athletes, it asked the driver to shut the door. Organizers then tried to split up the Israeli team and put the athletes on different shuttles, but the Israeli delegation refused to do so, Haaretz reported. The bus driver then, didn’t complied with the Lebanese request to keep the door shut, both Israeli and Lebanese media reported, adding that the head of the Lebanese team, Salim al-Haj Nicolas physically blocked the entrance of the Israelis to the bus. The Rio Olympics — South America’s first — opened on Friday night in a packed Maracana Stadium. SHAFAQNA – Both the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi rebels have violated the humanitarian law during the past six months of the conflict. That’s according to the latest report by the United Nations. The document in particular blames Houthi rebels for using civilians as human shields. At the same time it accuses the Saudi-led coalition of bombing civilian targets despite Riyadh’s claims that it adheres to inteational law. Catherine Shakdam, Director of Programs for the Shafaqna Institute for Middle Easte Studies told Sputnik if sides genuinely looking for a settlement and how likely is the coalition to be held accountable for the violations of inteational law in this regard. SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: Be hopeful of God in such a way that you are not courageous enough to commit sins, and be so fearful of God that you do not lose hope of Divine Mercy [1]. In another narration, Imam Sadeq (AS) said: Fear is the guard for the heart and hope the companion of the soul. The one who knows God, is fearful and hopeful of God, and fear and hope are two wings of the belief, and the pious servant of God flies with them to paradise, and they are two eyes of wisdom and with them (the pious servant of God) sees the promises and threats of God [2]. SHAFAQNA – During a meeting with a group of seminary students, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, in addition to praying for success in their studies and propagation of Islam added: ’One of the miracles of the Holy Prophet (s) was his support for knowledge, the scholar and academic., as the era when he (s) appeared was an era of ignorance that was found everywhere. However, the Quran is full of commendation towards leaing and acquiring knowledge.’ In explaining that the first thing that was revealed to the Holy Prophet (s) was regarding knowledge and leaing, the Ayatollah added: ‘The first revelation to the Holy Prophet (s) emphasized on reading. This is an extremely important point in helping us to understand that to what extent Islam defended knowledge during the dark days of ignorance. Seventy verses in the Holy Quran were revealed about thinking, pondering and contemplation, and this repetition is not something we can glance over quickly.’ ‘After the Holy Prophet (s), his successor, Imam Ali (a) also greatly emphasized on this issue; as Nahj al-Balagha contains many of these traditions. For example in one of the wisdoms, Imam Ali (a) says that knowledge is superior than wealth; however, today wealth is seen as being superior to knowledge.’ By pointing to the main issue of society today, he said: ‘Today everyone is chasing wealth, and see knowledge as being the servant of wealth. Imam Ali said: “Knowledge has five qualities over wealth, one, knowledge protects a person, whereas wealth must be protected; two, when wealth is given it decreases, however, when given, knowledge only increases.’” ‘The third difference between knowledge and wealth is that when a person associates with someone because of their wealth, when that wealth goes, so does the association; however knowledge always ensures this association lasts. Question: I am disabled and have no feeling or movement in my hands, what am I supposed to do at the time of performing Wudhu? SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi answered questions about the woman who is appointed to suckle another woman’s child. Question: If after marriage, the mother of the husband claims that she breastfed the bride and make an oath on her claim, what is the ruling regarding the marriage? The Grand Ayatollah Makarem: Firstly, after marriage, it (the marriage) is considered as correct; unless an authentic reason is raised against it. Secondly, if the marriage sermon is not read, the basis is on non-breastfed and it must be proved that woman (the mother of the husband) has breastfed the bride and because she is the claimant her oath has no use and must prove her claim with authentic proof.
