SHAFAQNA IN COLLABORATION WITH FORT RUSS –The most important information event of Friday was Vladimir Putin’s interview with Bloomberg, in which the Russian president touched on key issues on the global information agenda. I am sure that dozens of publications are going over this interview and discussing every question and answer in it, but I want to propose to you, dear friends, to look at this from a different angle. The point is that John Micklethwait, the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg who interviewed the Russian president, is not merely a joualist, but one of many joualists who has participated for many years in meetings of the Bilderberg Club as a full member of this shadow interest gr...

SHAFAQNA –This week’s European Council meeting was dominated by reactions to Britain’s referendum result, but on Tuesday EU leaders took a decision that has far-reaching consequences for people forced or wishing to migrate from more than a dozen countries in Africa and Asia. Under the Partnership Framework with third countries, which the council adopted, 16 countries of origin and transit for migrants will be pressured to cooperate with the EU’s goals on curbing migration. Their compliance is to be rewarded with various “incentives” including development aid and trade deals. Non-cooperation will be met with unspecified “negative incentives” – presumably the withholding of aid and trade. Ahe...

SHAFAQNA –British NGOs received €145 million from the EU’s emergency aid department, ECHO, in 2015. When the UK leaves the EU following Brexit, UK-registered non-profits will no longer be eligible for that funding, and the ECHO aual budget is also likely to shrink in the absence of UK contributions. As official British aid is 100 percent “untied” – UK companies and charities are allowed no advantage in getting grants – replacing the lost ECHO funding from the UK aid ministry, DFID, could not be guaranteed without a major policy change. Among the largest recipients of ECHO humanitarian funding last year were the British wings of multinational, or federated, NGOs, including Inteational Rescue...

SHAFAQNA –How fickle a friend Britain proved to be when following much political grand-standing and calls for a very “humanitarian intervention” against the Gaddafi regime in Libya (2011), Britain could only master £50, 000 towards Libya’s reconstruction came 2016. Following what can only be described as a brutal levelling of Libya’s infrastructures in the name of democracy building back in 2011, the very powers which volunteered their military assistance, so that liberty’s flame could shine brighter in North Africa … or so we were told, have completed deserted the Libyan people. Let me repeat that ridiculous figure one more time so it can truly sink in: £50,000! £50,000 … Unless Libyans ha...

Flint has been suffering from aserious health conce which, for several years, has been falling on deaf ears.
