  • UN Special Rapporteurs: Government of Bahrain Persecutes “Baharna” & “Ajam”, Erases their Traces from National Heritage & History

  • SHAFAQNA – Three UN Special Rapporteurs addressed in a letter to the Bahraini Govement “conceing” information about alleged pattes of continuous discrimination against Shia citizens (mainly Bahaa and Ajam), which have been taking place since 2011, and which are “undermining their rights to freedoms of religion, expression and culture;” in addition to the effect of the whole situation on the human rights of Shiites in the country. The address published recently on the website of the commissioner was officially sent to the Govement of Bahrain at the end of October 2015 to enquire about the reports which the UN rapporteurs deemed conceing. The Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, Fareeda Shaheed, Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Philip Alston, and Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief pursuant to Human Rights Council Heiner Bielefeldt signed the letter. “Such discrimination takes the form of destruction of place,un special rapporteurs list,un special rapporteurs,un special rapporteurs on human rights,un special rapporteur on torture,un special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples,un special rapporteur on the right to food,un special rapporteur on human rights defenders,un special rapporteur on freedom of expression,un special rapporteur on indigenous peoples,un special rapporteur on the right to health ...ادامه مطلب

  • Yemen – on the engineering of a civil war and a bad case of political unilateralism

  • SHAFAQNA – If Yemen remains synonymous with unrest and violence thanks to the military deluge Saudi Arabia has insisted on drowning the impoverished nation under since late March 2015, Terror had yet to claim its fill of blood. Terror as it were never could assert its warped religious rationale onto Yemen – not beyond a few clusters, not to the point where Terror could ever present any real existential threat to the Yemeni Republic. This was then … today is a brand new day! Today, Saudi Arabia is actively working to change that reality! Saudi Arabia I would add, absolutely needs for Terror to become Yemen’s newest existential threat to counteract that which is now threatening its own. For all its outwardly show of force, and display of grand political and financial stability the kingdom sounds hollow – nothing but a waning house of cards under the terrible sun of revolutionary Arabia. • What’s It’s Like Being a Syrian Muslim Who Feels Ignored by the West

  • SHAFAQNA – I’ve changed my profile picture on social media many times since terror came in horrific waves, drowning the world in sorrow over the last year. But I could only use the official Facebook profile filter to show solidarity for Paris since a filter wasn’t available for Aleppo, Lahore, Istanbul, or many other attacks. I am a Syrian Muslim living in Dubai; I lost my home in Damascus at the beginning of the Syrian war in 2011. It saddens me when I read on Facebook that someone on the other side of the world thinks that because of who I am and where I live, I’m used to bombs and terror and therefore not as worthy of sympathy. Maybe that’s because the West is a place where war has been a foreign concept and red is the color of nothing but love. But let’s be clear: the sound of bombs and bullets will never be something I become immune to. I have also read comments on social media that suggest that since ISIS claims they are “Muslim,” all Muslims are bad. • Can you be a practising Muslim and identify with the Australian way of life?

  • SHAFAQNA – With growing conces over national security, and the increased threat of those wishing to divide us, there has been recent public discussion about the future of our immigration program, and whether the values and customs of some migrant groups have a place in the Australian way of life. Negative attitudes towards Muslims in Australia seem to be based on a fear of the unknown, and this perceived difference in values and culture. Attributes we typically identify as integral to the Australian way of life – like our freedom and democracy – are commonly perceived as being at odds with Islam. It raises an interesting question – can Australian Muslims maintain their customs and traditions but still embrace and identify with the Australian way of life? • The politically shrewd option for French and German Muslims

  • SHAFAQNA – If they know what is good for them, German Muslims should be stoutly, if silently, supporting the partial burqa ban announced by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s govement. And French Muslims should be agreeing, even if only sotto voce, with Jean-Pierre Chevènement’s call for “discretion” in public spaces “at this difficult time”. Chevènement, a former Interior minister, has been appointed head of the Foundation of French Islam. The organisation, created to better integrate France’s Muslim population, is to oversee aspects of mosque operations, including domestic financing and imam training. It is likely to be an influential body. There is a simple reason to support Merkel’s partial burqa ban and heed advice. The political alteative may be terrible, in both Germany and France. • The definition, meaning, value, and effect of Taqwa

  • SHAFAQNA- By: Ayatullah Murtadha Mutahhari AbstractIn part I of this article, Ayatollah Mutahhari elaborated on the definition, meaning, value, and effect of taqwa, or Godwariness, and self-restraint, as emphasized in the Qur’an and Nahj al-Balaghah. He demonstrated that 1) fear of God is, in fact, fear of His justice, 2) piety is more than merely performing religious duties, 3) taqwa is a freedom rather than a restriction, and 4) true perfection lies in a person’s freedom to do wrong and yet he or she refrains from doing so.In this article, Mutahhari offers an additional description of taqwa: it gives a person insight, or the ability to make correct decisions, and the strength to overcome difficulties. In order to achieve these qualities, a person must rid himself or herself of vain desires which hinder one’s ability to clearly reason and reach a virtuous state as a result. As stated in Part I of this article, the term taqwa refers to Godwariness and self-restraint. • Turkey permits Muslim policewomen to wear hijab on duty

  • SHAFAQNA- Female police officers in Turkey will now be able to wear a headscarf as part of their uniform, according to a new ruling published on Saturday. Turkey’s Official Gazette carries a new rule which will allow policewomen to wear a headscarf under their caps or beret on condition it be the same color as the uniform and without a patte. Back in 2013, then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan introduced the lifting of headscarf bans in Turkey’s civil service as part of a broader democratization package. Elsewhere, Police Scotland recently announced that the hijab would become an optional part of its uniform to encourage more female Muslims to consider policing as a career option. Muslim women police in London have been permitted to wear a hijab for the past decade. • The reality of repenting is to regret the sin; the sinner must not lose hope in God’s mercy/the Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s answer

  • SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about the real repenting. Question: How does real repenting is achieved? The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: The reality of repenting is to regret committing the sin, and therefore it is said: The regret (remorse) is the same as repenting and the real regret is always accompanied by decision to abandon the sin and not to retu to it. And the real regretful person must avoid the past sins, and if his sin is the right of Allah (SWT), must ask forgiveness from God, and pay Kaffarah (financial penalty) or to compensate for it. And if it is the right of people, must either ask the owner of the right for forgiveness or pay his right back, and if this causes disrespect for that person, can retu it as a gift or pay the sum into his account. Repenting is not achieved by just saying “I ask God for forgiveness”, but regret, and decision to abandon the sin for ever, and preparation for that as much as possible. • Ayatollah Ali Khameini on Yemen: “Saudi govt. slaughters Yemeni children with US weapons”

  • SHAFAQNA – “When you witness that it is almost a year and a half now that Yemen has been under bombardment, is this a minor event? They are constantly bombarding a country. And they are not bombarding its military centers, rather they are bombarding its markets, hospitals, public squares and schools and the people’s houses and gatherings. This is not a minor event, rather it is a very grave crime. They do not understand what the month of Ramadan and a month of haraam are and they do not differentiate between children and adults. They have murdered so many children! Well, this is a grave crime as well which has unfortunately been committed by the Saudi govement. However, they have done so with the support of America, with its approval and with its weapons – the weapons and ammunitions that are from America. • Sheikh Isa Qassim – Bahrain finds itself in the defence of its Tradition –

  • SHAFAQNA – What is righteousness? It has been related that a devout worshipper by the name of Humam came to Imam Ali (AS), and asked him to describe righteous souls so vividly that he could almost see them. Imam Ali then responded: “Their speech is truthful; their clothing is moderate; and they walk with utmost humility. They lower their gaze from everything God has forbidden. They allow their ears to listen only to that which is beneficial. Their souls accept exposure to trials and tribulations [in adherence to the truth] as easily as others accept luxurious living. Were it not for their appointed term, their spirits would not have remained in their bodies the span of a twinkling of the eye due to their intense longing for their Lord. Because the Creator is magnified in their souls, everything else is viewed as insignificant in their sight.
